The D’espresso Cafe New York is a library of caffeinated treats– or so goes the inspiration behind its design. D’espresso Cafe takes the interior of a library and turns it on its head, rotating your typical library 90 degrees. The floor shifts to the rear wall, the library stacks shift to the floor, ceiling and outer walls, and the library ceiling becomes the back of the bar, where coffee and sandwiches are prepared for New Yorkers in need of a jolt. This design, by Nema Workshop, is about as progressive and free-thinking as can be. We wouldn’t mind relaxing in here with a hot cup of coffee… and a book.
