The Holmenkollen penthouse was a promotional offer from AirBnB to a pair of lucky guests. AirBnB members were invited to enter for a chance to stay in the ski jump loft for two nights at the end of March. Airfare was provided by AirBnB, and the guests were treated to a once-in-a-lifetime lodging experience. Toward the end of March, Oslo is still prime for winter sports enjoyment. Skiing, snowboarding and other winter activities were available to the winners of AirBnB’s “spectacular listing” event. Oslo is clearly a mecca for the sport, and the 200-foot ski jump lodge is a big, shiny chunk of proof. AirBnB styled this mid-century tower with era-appropriate designs. The interior is decorated with antique modern furnishings and warm details that feel right at home in this tower-of-the-future-past. The photos showcase a space that is remarkable by design, and it’s a shame its use was so short-lived. Will this spectacular AirBnB listing return again next year? It’s anyone’s guess. If it does, you can expect quite a wait list for a chance to stay in this historic work of modern architecture. We’ll be on that list for sure.
